Looks Good: A Q&A With The Nonfiction Hotlist

A few weeks ago I read about the Non-Fiction Hotlist, and I was intrigued but had some questions. First off, who is behind this list and how will it work?

I always imagine the worst possible scenarios first. (That is why I am a good producer!) So I wondered if this could be a scheme to steal our ideas. Or maybe a fly-by-night AI company looking for information to feed into their LLM?

Well, I did some digging for all of us, and the answer is no!

The goal of the Nonfiction Hotlist is to release publicly a list of 10-20 promising projects. It is inspired by the Black List, an annual list of promising scripts that have not yet been made into films. Spotlight, Slumdog Millionaire, Argo, and The King’s Speech got made only after they were on the Black List.

So here is a Q&A with the team, led by producer Adam Neuhaus, about the list and how it works.
